25th July 2024

Newquay nightlife is almost as famous as its surf. With cool cocktail bars, traditional pubs, and a handful of nightclubs, there is plenty to keep you busy after hours. But with so many great places to hang out in the evening, it can be hard knowing where you should go. To help you out, we’ve rounded up our favourite bars, pubs, and clubs in Newquay.

Bertie’s Nightclub

A prominent fixture of Newquay nightlife, Bertie’s is one of the biggest and best-known clubs in the area. Whether you’re an ardent raver or prefer to bop away to classic pop, you’ll find your fix with music and rooms to suit all tastes. Just be aware it can get busy in the summer months, so be prepared to queue.

Walkabout

Ready to kick back after a day on the beach? Then Walkabout is the place to head. One of the famous Australian-themed chains of bars, it offers friendly relaxed drinking and hearty dining in the early evening but after 10 it’s the place to party. With themed DJ nights, music bingo, and much more, you can dance the night away until the early hours. Plus, it offers great value for money as there are always drink packages and offers on everything from beer and spirits to cocktails and shots.

Toast Wine Bar

If you’re looking for more of a sophisticated vibe for your evening, Toast Wine Bar could be just up your street. A stone’s throw from Fistral Beach, it offers exquisite tapas alongside an extensive wine and cocktail list. With tapas dishes ranging from £4 to £7, you can get a taste of luxury Newquay Nightlife for less than you might think.

Toast opens from 5 pm till late every Wednesday to Saturday and is popular with locals and tourists, so we recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment.

Sailor’s Arms Pub & Sailor’s Nightclub

The Sailor’s Arms Pub is a favourite with everyone. It’s the perfect place to stop for a quick pint or two after a long lazy day at the beach, and they serve food until 8 pm if you’re feeling peckish from all that lounging around. We recommend grabbing a table out on the terrace at the back to enjoy stunning views across the bay.

For those looking for Newquay nighlife a little livelier, the Sailor’s Nightclub is just next door (so it would be rude not to pop in for a look). Split over two levels and with live DJs it’s known for hosting the biggest and busiest club nights every week. Open from 10 pm until the early hours, Thursday to Saturday, it’s the place to go for partying until dawn.

Lost Brewing Co. Café and Craft Beer Bar

If you’re into your beer, then Lost Brewing Co. is a must-visit. A café by day and bar by night, they serve over 40 craft beers, with everything from traditional stouts to peaches and cream IPA. The craft beer menu constantly changes, so it doesn’t matter how many times you’ve been, there’ll always be something new to try.

Wax Activity Bar

If you’re looking for Newquay nightlife that’s a little different, Wax Activity Bar is worth a visit. Set inside an old bank, this place is all about having good fun, with a range of activities on offer from escape rooms, interactive darts, axe throwing, and virtual clay pigeon shooting. Plus, with a happy hour every Monday to Friday from 4pm to 6pm, it’s a great place to start the night.

Tom Thumb Cocktail Bar

Describing itself as Newquay’s neighbourhood cocktail bar, this place has high-end vibes yet a warm and welcoming atmosphere. With over 120 bottles of hand-chosen spirits, the possibilities truly are endless. From classic cocktails to signature creations, and even non-alcoholic ‘driving juice’ options, you really are spoilt for choice.

The Red Lion

If a traditional pub is more your thing, try The Red Lion. Considered by many as one of Newquay’s most iconic pubs it offers the perfect combination of local drinks, food, and music. It even has a cosy log fire to keep you toasty in the cooler months.

Located just across Newquay harbour it offers stunning views across the harbour making it the ideal place to head to watch the sun go down while enjoying a locally brewed cask ale.

Located on one of the nation’s best surfing spots, it’s a great place to soak up Newquay’s famous laid-back vibes straight off the beach. The outdoor terrace offers uninterrupted views of the entire beach, making it a great spot for watching the sunset.
